Mota & Pimenta Joins the Sherwin-Williams Following Close of Acquisition

The Sherwin-Williams Company has completed the acquisition of Mota & Pimenta, and the business joins the Sherwin-Williams Performance Coating Group’s Automotive Finishes Division.  

Sherwin-Williams is a well-respected leader in the coatings industry, with an extensive global presence. They are known for being an authentic brand, exemplifying nearly 160 years of innovation, quality and customer service.  

The two companies have a long relationship. For the last 27 years, Mota & Pimenta has been an importer of DeBeer Refinish automotive coatings, a Sherwin-Williams product, for distribution to approximately 350 body shops in Portugal. 

We see this as a positive step forward in the evolution and growth of our business. With the acquisition, we may offer a broader selection of technologies and solutions for customers with an enhanced product range, expanded manufacturing footprint, and deeper sales and technical support. 

While our customers will still benefit from a familiar salesperson, Sherwin-Williams is eager to be able to serve the automotive refinish market more directly. The combination of an experienced team with established products, supplemented by the strength of a company operating exclusively in the coatings sector, presents many possibilities for customers.
